Winter Weight Results

We have great numbers for our first session in the weight room. The improvements made are outstanding.  The average total pounds improved for the 3 lifts (bench, power clean, squat) was 142 pounds per player and this is in just 3 months of time.

The poundage listed without parenthesis is for the start of the program in November.  The lifts in parenthesis are for the end of February. The total poundage of improvement is the last column on the right.

Spring Weight Training Update - March 29, 2012:   Spring session is underway and we are excited by the turnout (60 players a day) and are looking forward to continued great results of our players!

Winter Weight Training Update - February 29, 2012:   We have just concluded our Winter Weight lifting session and I thought I would share the great results with everyone.  We had 43 athletes attend a minimum of 26 of our 30 sessions this trimester.  We had an additional 8 athletes attend at least 23 sessions.  We averaged just over 54 athletes a day lifting over the winter trimester!  Those are great numbers for our first session in the weight room.  The improvements made are outstanding.  The average total pounds improved for the 3 lifts (bench, power, squat) was 142 pounds per player.  This is in just 3 months of time.  The results are listed under the "HS Football Information" tab (on the left).  

ALL of these student athletes deserve a BIG hand for their commitment and hard work!

We currently have no players in the 1000 pound club and one in the 800 pound club.  Good teams in our conference usually will have 20+ players in the 800 pound club with a handful in the 1000 pound club by the time football season begins.  We still have work to do, but we are closing the gap fast and look forward to a great spring for our athletes at North Branch Area High School.

The Spring Weight Program will kick off the week of March 12th.  We will have sessions in the mornings from 6:45-7:15am every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to accommodate our student athletes in Spring Sports.  We will also have sessions after school from 3:45-4:30pm on the same days.  Stop by the Activities Office for sign-up information.

Philosophy on Lettering - January 14, 2012:   It is my belief that every player should be (and is) valued equally in our football program; from the most talented player who has the highest impact on a Friday night to the scout player who doesn't play on Friday night. Those scout players work just as hard and put in the same amount of time as the high impact players. When they play on the scout team all week they are the most important element on our team regarding success on Friday nights. Those players sacrifice the same amount of time, exert the same amount of effort and are every bit as valuable to our team and school as the players who play on Friday nights. Requirements for lettering eligibility is shared with the players at the beginning of the season.  Hopefully, this information is in turn, shared with you.
